Semolina Pudding, Suji halwa

Sheera | Suji Halwa

Sheera also known as sooji halwa is a delicious sweet made of semolina, sugar, ghee, nuts and raisins. Quick and easy to make, this sweet is done often in Indian homes.

Ingredients:

1 cup semolina / suji / sooji

¼cup ghee

¾ cup sugar

1 cup milk

2 cups water

2 tbsp raisins

2 tbsp cashewnuts

¼ tsp cardamom powder

Method:

Heat ghee in a large kadai and roast cashewnuts and raisins on low fire. Remove the nuts and keep them aside.

Add sooji and roast on low flame until its lightly brown and gives a good aroma.

Simultaneously in another saucepan heat 1 cup milk + 2 cups water and bring it to boil.

Add this to the roasted sooji and mix well until its all absorbed.

Add the sugar and mix well again. 

Finally add the roasted nuts and raisins, cardamom powder and 1 tbsp ghee and mix well again. Close the lid and keep it closed for two minutes.

Enjoy this sheera for your breakfast or as a dessert.
